We believe solar should be designed, not bolted on

Solar Creative is a design-led solar studio. We exist because the way solar is usually sold — cheapest panels, bolted onto whatever roof area is left over — fails a whole category of buildings and the people who care about them.

Our discipline is integration: solar tiles and slates, building-integrated PV, and flush in-roof systems, specified and detailed so the generating surface becomes part of the architecture. We think about the elevation first and the yield second, because for our clients how solar looks is not a nice-to-have — it is the reason they came to us.

The UK market is well served at the volume end and at the far commercial end — mass-market installers on one side, large-scale façade and canopy engineers on the other. What has been missing is a residential studio that treats design-led solar as a service: someone an architect can specify, a self-builder can brief, and a heritage homeowner can trust with a listed roof.

That is the space we occupy. It is deliberately narrower than a general installer's, and deliberately more considered.

We are not tied to a single manufacturer, so we have no reason to push one product over another. On each project we specify the integrated system that suits the building, the budget and the planning context — which is what lets us sit on the client's side of the table as an adviser rather than a supplier.

Architects who want a solar specialist that will protect a design intent rather than dilute it. Self-builders who want a clean, contemporary roof and a strong energy story. And owners of period, listed and conservation-area homes who want solar that respects a building worth respecting.
